The Majika Lodge located above the Western Union office is the best value that I found in Coron. The downtown location is so handy and they had a parking garage below for my bike.
Single rooms are 250 pesos per nite and the doubles go for 350.
They are basic rooms with shared restrooms or cr as they are called in the Philippines. (comfort rooms)
The advertising for this place is mostly word of mouth.
I don’t mind stretching my pesos and looking around for bargains. The Majika worked for me.
Guests have kitchen privileges and there is always a thermos of hot water and free instant coffee available.
I really enjoyed my stay here because it is a short walk to the market where you can pick up fish and vegetables. You can ven select a beautiful fish and have the vendor grill it on the spot for 50 pesos.
You are within walking distance of the pier where most of the boats leave to go island hopping.
The Majika is a main in the Western Union building.
This could also come in handy if you need to send or receive money.
One of the reasons for this website is to show others that you can enjoy really beautiful destinations like Coron on a budget. You don’t have to spend heaps of money to have a good time.
There is nothing wrong with staying at plush 5 star resorts but I just worked too hard for my money over the years to throw it away.
The easiest and possibly the cheapest way to get to Coron is to fly from Manila.
Seair and Asian Spirit fly that route.
The Superferry is being worked on at this time so choices in going by boat are limited.
If you have an adventurous spirit, the local cargo ships can be a bit of fun but you will be sleeping on a row of cots with the other passengers and the boat will have a strong from all the dried fish that they are hauling.
