Tay Tay was a fort back in the day under Spanish rule. It has been well maintained and is open to the public for tours.
For some reason Tay Tay is not on the travelers circuit in Palawan.
If you rent a motorcycle or car this is an ideal place to rest for the night when making the run between Puerto Princesa and El Nido.
Friends suggested staying at the Taylelong Pension and we were happy staying there.
It is not a five star resort but it’s nice and clean and everything works. They bring a thermos of coffee and some bread in the morning.
A big fan room with two twin beds goes for 500 pesos a night.
Just head up the hill on the road next to the Petron station and keep a look out for signs. When all else fails just ask for directions.
I do not have a phone number for the Taylelong but they probably don’t take reservations anyway.
There is a school on the other side of the creek at the edge of the property.
The kids all line up for the flag ceremony and sing the national anthem before school begins. This is the custom at any grade school and its kind of neat.
There are two carinderias within walking distance of the pension house. the food is cheap and not bad.
The market downtown has a few small restaurants too.
Tay Tay is an interesting place to stay the night but you probably will not want to set up camp here.
